To be vigilant

Keep your guard up so high over your head

You can’t see what’s coming

So just in case

Somebody says the lousy thing you already know

They’re about to say,

You’ll be ready to cut them off at the pass

Before their possible dastardly intentions

Have a chance to break through your

Perfectly understandable defensives

And pilfer your rights.

Try to assure you’re never caught off guard

And are never surprised to the slightest degree

In any way that might prove to be unpleasant,

Or demeaning, or questioning your abilities.

Don’t trust anybody

And assume the worst in them.

Also assume everything you don’t like to hear

Is a dirty lie

Spoken with evil intent.

Defend against all comers,

Even the innocuous ones,

Just in case.
